A letter from Sean's Mother:

Sean moved out at age 18 to his first group home. He would live in several before we discovered the wonders of Adult Family Homes.  Regional Center gave us options for Adult Family Homes to look into, and we loved Community Support Solutions right from the beginning!

Here are a few reasons Sean loves his Adult Family Home: maintaining friendships, loving pets, eating out independently, and having his own room to store his personal items like his DVD collection.  We love that Sean is living in a more natural setting. He is currently living with a loving couple and another male client. He has lived in a few homes and has enjoyed each one.

Every year we see Sean become more and more independent.  He will still need care for years to come but it warms our heart to see him grow.  He has even learned how to ride the city bus and the Metrolink independently from his home to his school.

Sean’s future looks bright and we owe that in large part to his opportunity to live in the Adult Family Homes through the direction of Community Support Solutions. Janeth McDonough, the Executive Director, has offered us amazing support! Sean’s life has been so stable due to his current living situation I now have had time to write a book.  It describes parenting our special needs boys as we endured the heartaches, as well as learning the secrets of hope along the journey. My book, “The Song of My Hope” will be available around February through Amazon.
